After 16 years at Uppingham Surgery I have taken the difficult decision to retire from the practice at the end of December 2017. I will miss my dedicated colleagues and staff who have worked so hard over the years to provide good medical care for patients; and also the patients, many of whom I regard as friends, including our dedicated patient participation group, and the volunteers who help to improve your services.
Uppingham Surgery is well regarded within the local health community, providing good access for patients and good clinical outcomes, well-deserving of the favourable patient survey and “Good” CQC rating achieved earlier this year.
I am delighted that the partners have appointed Dr Nainesh Patel to take over my patient list. You are fortunate indeed to have such a keen and committed doctor joining the practice. He has provided a biography which I am including below. I wish you all good health for the future and thank you for a memorable 16 years.
With kindest regards,
Dr Hilary Fox
“I am 33 years old, married and a father of one. I was born in Blackburn, Lancashire and spent my early years in Bolton as my parents were mill workers, as the textile industry drew to a close we relocated to West Yorkshire where I attended both primary and secondary school. Reflecting on the hardship we faced as a family and what I had learnt from my hard working parents I decided to pursue a career in Medicine. I completed my undergraduate studies at the Brighton and Sussex Medical and returned back to home to West Yorkshire for my post graduate training. Initially I was training as a hospital doctor, but soon realised that it was not for me and so switched to general practice. I have worked as GP for over twelve months now and have enjoyed every moment of it, having the opportunity to join the team has provided longevity for my career. I hope to become an integral part of the team, community and a pillar for Dr Fox’s patients, I will do my utmost best to be as dedicated, caring and compassionate as my predecessor. I am looking forward to coming on board at the practice and upholding our NHS”.
